After rear-ending a victim, two teenage suspects in a stolen car speed down S. Rock Hill Road.
Webster Groves Police are warning the public after an incident of car theft that occurred on Sunday night. They used “bump-and-steal” as a method of theft.
The police said that it puts drivers at risk in multiple ways.
The neighbors shared the home surveillance video from their doorbell cameras that showed a rear-end collision at around 5:35 pm on S. Rock Hill Rd. in Webster Groves.
A family was eating Sunday dinner across from the scene of the crime when they heard car thieves driving the wrecked car down the road.
He was left with his keys.
Doug Allenbaugh said, “It’s just shocking,” when he saw the footage from the doorbell cameras.
According to a police report, after rear-ending a driver, he got out of the car and apologized for hitting the stopped vehicle.
Next, the second suspect entered the car’s passenger door. The suspects drove both cars down the road, causing them to crash.
Allenbaugh told his teenage children that he would never have expected that this kind of thing could occur, and that a new driver in two years was even more unlikely.

Webster Groves Police confirmed that the suspects did not threaten the victim, and there were no injuries. Department is now working with agencies that have faced similar incidents in the past.
