Adam Brand, a country singer from Australia, has described his “surreal” shock after the fire that ravaged his Gold Coast rural home on Monday.
About midday the fire raged through Maudsland, and the Golden Guitar 12-time winner was unable to watch.
7NEWS was told by a family friend that they were at the rear of the house when someone began yelling, “smoke”.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services reported that when emergency services responded, they found the back of the home “well involved” with flames.
The firefighter took 45 minutes to put out the flames, but it was too late. By then, the roof had collapsed and valuables were destroyed.
Two firefighters were hospitalized as precautions due to the heat of the fire. 7NEWS footage from the helicopter showed that there was significant damage done to the home.
Brand described his “sense surreal shock” while he watched as his house was consumed by flames.
In a press release, Mr. McKay said: “This moment is one that will shake you to your core. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable life can be.”
