They were thrown into the car by bricks that crashed from their roof. The explosion destroyed the chimney, electrical supply, and boiler.
Lightning struck a couple’s home just minutes after they had left, destroying their roof and blowing the boiler. The electrics were also fried. Ring’s doorbell camera captured the lightning bolt that struck their house four minutes after the couple left for lunch. The strike destroyed the roof, blew up the boiler and fried the electrics.
Their car was also damaged and their chimney blew off. Unnamed homeowner said, “We had a fortunate escape.” What would have happened if the homeowners had stayed inside?
We’re still both in shock. There are structural damages around the doors and three holes in the ceiling.
We don’t know when gas and electric can be connected because of the extensive damage. It could take weeks to reconnect the gas and electricity.
The same explosion caused damage to the electrical equipment of our neighbor and his boiler. The same strike also caused bricks to fall on our vehicle.
It’s hard to believe. It’s hard for all our friends to believe. Home insurance asked if it was true because this is so unusual. “The community has been very helpful and caring.”
The couple was notified of the strike by their neighbours in Chalgrove (Oxfordshire). They called the fire department, cleared the streets and gathered the neighbors to help. Jessica, who lives opposite her neighbours’ home, heard about the strike.
She replied: “There was an enormous bang and a flash. The thunder was loud, but we didn’t pay much attention to it.
The bang I heard was so loud that I went looking to see if anything had been struck. You just can’t imagine it happening.
In 2020, the couple will move into their new house.
