According to The Democrat and Chronicle, Adam Chase allegedly confronted Rose, his high-school sweetheart and wife, on June 14, 2012. He questioned her about Rose’s infidelity.
The couple had a fight at home in Seneca (New York) on Mott Road. He pushed him down the stairs and killed him. The woman hid the body of her husband in their basement.
Adam told his mother Rose’s affair before it happened. According to It’s Crime O Clock Somewhere, his parents had agreed to hold the child while they sorted out the situation the day that he went missing. Rose picked up Adam’s son a couple of hours after Rose had arrived. She told Adam’s parents that Adam stormed from the house around 11:15 on June 14 in anger.
Adam’s search lasted for many months. The search for Adam was so widespread that even the media got involved. Rose’s family believed that foul play had been committed and accused him of concealing vital information.
Rodney Miller, a Gorham-based private investigator and longtime family friend, became involved with the case in December that year. He convinced Rose to confess and tell him all that had happened that fateful day. Rodney informed the authorities after Rose’s confession.
Rose reportedly confessed the murder in an interview with police that was videotaped. According to reports, Rose claimed she was having multiple affairs and unhappy with her marriage.
She initially said that Adam had fallen down the stairs, and his death an accident. Later, she admitted that he had only fallen down one set of stairs and then was pushed down the second.
Rose confessed that Adam was dead in the basement during the first search. Rose confessed that she dismembered him, packed his parts into bags and drove to the mother’s house with her son. There, his remains were also burned along with some of his possessions.
Rose was tried for the murder of her husband in October 2013 after the defense claimed that Adam’s death had been accidental. They also said he died before the defendant shoved him down the stairs. She was sentenced to 24 and half years of prison for second-degree homicide.
